OBJECT OF INTEREST OF LORE LINDU NATIONAL PARK

1. Pakuli

Location Pakuli is a village at the vicinity of Lore Lindu National Park.  Pakuli is located at District of Gumbasa, Sigi Regency,  40 km away from Palu to South.

Interests
Local people at Pakuli, which is inhabited close to the Lore Lindu National Park have utilized herbs for traditional medication. The result of a research showed that 287 of 415  materials of traditional herbs are taken from Lore Lindu National Park area.
Several species of birds can be found here, such as : Maleo, Red Jungle Fowl, Sulawesi Nightjar, Sulawesi Thriller, White-rumped Cuckoo-shrike.

Accessibility
Pakuli can be reached by car or public transportation and it takes 1 hour trip from Palu with good road condition. Public transportation from Palu can be found at Masomba bus station.

Facilities
Traditional medication house, herbal garden, hanging bridge, Maleo captive breeding and shelter.



2.  Saluki

Location Saluki is located at Tuva Village, in the Sub Management of LLNP area Unit I Saluki, approximately 50 km away from Palu to South.

Interests
The park's largest maleo nesting ground can be found here. Besides that, several of endemic birds such as: Green-backed Kingfisher, Maroon-chinned Fruits-dove, Silver-tripped Imperial Pigeon, Red knobbed hornbill Sulawesi Dwarf Kingfisher, also can be found.
There is a medium camping ground with a beautiful scenery surround. The capacity is about 500 visitors
Accessibility
To reach Saluki, Visitor can use motorbike or public transportation and it takes I ,5 hours from Palu with good road condition.

Facilities
Maleo captive breeding, shelter, birdwatching tower and camping ground with toilet.



3. Lake Lindu

Location Lake Lindu is located at the central of the Park area. It is a part of Lindu enclave. Approximately 63 km away from Palu to South.

Interests
The lake is formed from the tectonic process. The beautiful natural panorama, the pluralistic culture at Lindu Plain are attractive for tourist. Lake Lindu has I000 meters above sea level with large lake's surface (3.200 ha) and extensive swamps surround. Several fauna are also can be found surround here such as Macaca tonkeana, Anoa (Bubalus sp.), Tarsier and many kind of birds, such as:
Oriental Darter, Little Pied Cormorant, Black-crowned Night-heron, Lesser Fish-eagle, White-bellied Sea-eagle.
Lake Lindu has beautiful scenery with Bola lslandat the center of the lake. Bola island covers an area of about ± 5 hectares and there lies the Maradindo burial site, that built at the 1 8th century. This burial site can be reached for 20 minutes by motorboat from Tornado village.

Accessibility
To reach Lake Lindu, visitors can take a car or motorbike from Palu to Sidaunta (1 .5 hours) and continue by on foot or motorbike (Ojeg). From Sidaunta to Lindu Valley takes about 6 hours by on foot or an hour by motorcycle.

4.  Toro

Location Toro is name of the village which is located at the vicinity of LLNP, Approximately 115 km away from Palu to South. District of South Kulawi

Interests
Another uniqueness of this location is the traditional custom which is still hold by the Toro community. Objeot of Interest is classified due to local wisdom and managed by local community. Some of
Lowland forest bordering rice-paddy and cacao plantations make a beautiful scenery of nature. Forest local peoples have responsible to guard the forest, called Tondo Ngata.
There is also a traditional house, known as "Lobo", that usually used for traditional meeting.
Several bird species can be found here, such as Snoring Rail, Short-crested Myna, White-rumped, Cuckoo-shrike.

Accessibility
Toro Village can be reached by car or public transportation, it takes 4 hour with Public transportation from Palu can be found at Petobo bus station. good road condition.

Facilities
Home stay, small restaurant and local guide.



4. Lake Tambing

Location Lake Tambing is located in the Sub Management Unit II Makmur area. Lake Tambing is ± 55 km away from Palu to South.

Objek of Interests
Lake Tambing has I .700 meters above sea level with a marshy lake and good surrounding forest.
This site is very peaceful and has amazing bird-spotting site. It is surrounded by natural forest and also usually used as a camping area. The Lake has about 10 metres depth and contents several kinds of endemic fishes. This beautiful natural environment can be enjoyed by using a traditional canoe (called "katinting") to cross the lake. Several species of Little Grebe, Malia, shrike. birds can be found here such as : Oriental Darter, Sunda Teal, Red-throated Blue-fronted Flycatcher, Honeyeater, Pygmy Cuckoo-shrike, Caerulean Cuckoo-
Accessibility
Lake Tambing can be reached by car or public transportation, it takes an hour from Palu by car or motorcycle with good road condition.

5. Nokilalaki-Anaso-Rorekatimbu

Location These site are located at Sub Management LLNP area Unit II Makmur-District of North Lore, Poso regency.


Interests
NokilaIaki
Montana forest is found at the top of Mt. Nokilalaki. The site has 2.335 meters above sea level of altitude. This forest is rich by diversity of mosses and many species of good alpine flora. This site also support tourism activities such as : birdwatching and tracking.

Anaso
Anaso has 2.000 meters above sea level of altitude and is developed for birdwatching activities along the logging trail towards the top. Several bird species can be found here, such as : Sulawesi Woodcock, Heinrich's Nightjar, Yellow-flanked whistler, Geomalia, Parrot-  finches, Mountain Serin.

Rorekatimbu
Close to the top, approximately 2.600 meters above sea level, canopy seems to be more uniform. The trees are squatter and gnarled with small and thick leaves. Mosses grow well and dense, covering most of forest floor. pale green lichens can also be found, dripping from every twig and branches. Hanging mist keep the temperature down with high humidity level (to 90 %). Pitcher plants (Nepenthes Sp.) are found here and getting additional nutritious from trapping insects.

Accesibility
Mt. Nokilalaki is about 55 km away from Palu to South. It takes about I ,5 hours by car or public transportation.

6. Napu Valley

Location Napu valley is a valley which is located about I 05 km away from Palu to South. Administratively, under authority of Wuasa, Wanga, Watutau Village - District of North Lore, Poso Regency.

Interests
Napu Valley has extensive wetlands area, mountains surrounded by forests and good farming lands. A good bird watching site can be found at Wuasa. There are several walking track for birdwatching with the forest rich by ephiphytes. Several species of birds can be found at the forest edges bordering grassland area, such as : Blue-faced rail, various eagles, White-bellied Imperial Pigeon, Rusty-bellied Fantail.
It is interesting that some local people is still keep traditional culture in their daily activities such as : traditional farming, traditional wedding ceremony and great harvesting moment.
Accesibility
Wuasa can be reached by car or public transportation, it takes 3 can be found in Public transportation from Palu Petobo bus station hours and has good condition of the road.

Facilities
Wuasa, as the entry point It also has tracking trail into the forest. to the South part of the park, has many home stay and mini restaurant.






7. Siliwanga Grassland

Location Siliwanga grassland lies along Siliwanga to Watutau Village - Sub Management Unit Ill Poso LLNP - District of North Lore. It is about 120 km away from Palu.

Interests
The area has a good scenery with grassland, bordered by forest, beyond our This beautiful savana ecosystem is rich by many species of animals. Several and macaques can be found in border line area.
Accessibility
Trip to Siliwanga takes 3,5 hours by car or public transportation with good road condition. Public transportation from Palu can be found in Petobo bus station

Facilities
Tracking trail, people residential, small restaurant and local guide.




8. Megalith Stone Statues

Location These statues widely spread in Besoa and Bada Valley-District of South Lore, Poso Regency.

Interests
Within the Lore Lindu National Park and its surrounding premises close to the vicinity, lies hundreds of megalithic artifacts in wide varieties of shapes; spread across Napu, Besoa, and Bada valleys. These artifacts are considered one of the finest stone monuments of their kind in Indonesia. Aside the fact of its solidity, good craftsmanship and simplicity, these megalithic stone statues are graceful and were carved from granite
Archeological research had date them back to 3.000 years BC and the recent ones are from I .300 AD. It is also believed that these megalithic statues are worshipped by the ‘indigenous' ancestors.
They come in variety of sizes, the tallest is about 4 meters in height and mostly are measured 1 ,5 to 2,5 meters tall.
There are 5 major megalith classification according to it shapes:

1.These megalithic stone statues are the lid of the kalamba and its large stone discs Stone images. These statues have human-like features, but only the head, shoulder, eye, and genitalia that are usually distinct.

2.Kalamba. These megalithic stone statues resemble large urns. They might have been cisterns, but were most probably a sarcophagus to buried noblemen.

3.Tu'tuna. The shape with its center are commonly protrude.

4.Dakon. Colitmmonly found as flat to convex stones featuring irregular holes, channel pitting and other depressions.

5.Others. Include stone mortars, altar, house support pillars, animal featured shapes and other range of shapes.

The locations of megalithic stone statues are divided into 6 sites:

Doda
Not far from Doda village, there are megaliths which called "Tadulako" in one complex. The upright, male statue is named after a fearless, always victorious in Kaili and Kulawi folklore.

Hanggira
"The Pokekea" complex around 2 kilometers from the village, is said to contain around 30 megaliths including one upright stone image of a male, and many large kalambas.

Tuare
A kalamba can be found at this site.

Lengkeka
2 kilometers away from the village's center are the Suso complex of megaliths, including Seppe (1 km) and numerous other megaliths

Gintu
In this village, has a small megalith, "Taraeroi" and has also a grave of a couple of the first Christians in the Bada Valley.

Bewa
The "Watu Palindo", the biggest statue, is located about I,8 km from Bewa Village.

Accesibility
Doda sites is about 157 kilometers away From Palu to South, it takes ± 6 hours trip by car. Bada sites is about 300 km away from Palu to South. Trip to Bada can be taken by on foot from Doda or Gimpu, and if visitor use car, the trip should be done via Poso and Tentena.

Facilities
There are shelters, tracking trail to the megalith location, homestay and small restaurants. It has also local guide. (to visit the location of these megalithic stone statues, it is recommended to use local guide)
